Manaus, the gateway to the Brazilian Amazon, is located in the northern part of the country. Located just a couple degrees south of the equator, it has warm, humid temperatures throughout the year. Spend two nights in the city and then travel to a jungle lodge for a four-night stay to enjoy nature in the world’s largest rain forest.

ARRIVAL
- Your journey begins with a flight to Brazil from your United States gateway through our partner airline.
- On arrival, you will be met at the Manaus Airport by your personal guide who will escort you to your private vehicle and introduce you to your driver. An approximate 30-minute drive will bring you to your accommodation where you will be able to get a good night’s rest.

MANAUS
- Enjoy a breakfast buffet before departing the hotel for a half day guided excursion. This morning begins with a visit to the Adolpho Lisboa Municipal Market, in its Art Nouveu style, as well as a bustling banana market. Our local guide walks us through the markets to learn about the history, cuisine and culture of Manaus and its surrounding areas.
- Following, take a guided tour of the Teatro Amazonas, Manaus’s opera house and a stunning symbol of the wealth that was in Manaus during the rubber boom period. Considered one of the world’s most beautiful opera houses, much of it it was constructed with materials from Europe. (Tour of the opera house is not private and is led by their staff. It will potentially be with other visitors but the passengers’ private guide will accompany them to share additional information as well.) IMPORTANT: The Opera House visit is not possible on Mondays and holidays because it is closed.

MANAUS TO JUNGLE LODGE
- Transfer in the early morning from the hotel to the lodge. Transfer is SIB (seat in bus) and is not private. Other lodge guests will be sharing the transfer. Transfer includes vehicle transport from hotel to Manaus pier, small motorized boat from Manaus (approx 45 minutes) including passing by the Meeting of the Waters, vehicle transfer on land (approx 1 hour) and another small motorized boat transfer (approx 1 hour). In total, the transfer will take approx 3 – 3.5 hours.
- Arrive at the lodge around 11 a.m. Lunch is served at noon. Spend this afternoon on a guided canoe excursion. This and all activities at the lodge are on a shared basis. Dinner included at lodge.
- Evening canoe excursion to try and spot caimans and other nocturnal animals.

JUNGLE LODGE
- Breakfast included at lodge restaurant. Morning hike to learn about flora and fauna. Lunch included at the lodge restaurant.
- Afternoon motorized canoe excursion with opportunities for piranha fishing. Catching piranhas is easier in the drier season (Sept – Feb) because the water levels are lower.
- Following dinner at lodge restaurant, there will be an informal lecture regarding everyday life in the Amazon, and the legends, traditions and culture of the region.

JUNGLE LODGE
- Breakfast included at lodge restaurant. Morning hike followed by a stop in the forest to enjoy lunch of a special regional cuisine baked over a fire and then have a chance to rest in a hammock, as the locals do.
- In the afternoon visit a local house and learn from the inhabitants about their fascinating culture, medicinal plants and cuisine. Dinner included at lodge restaurant.

JUNGLE LODGE
- Breakfast included at lodge restaurant. This morning we visit a giant Sumaúma tree, approximately 100 years of age. The Sumaúma tree is recognized as the Amazon’s largest tree species in both height and diameter, reaching up to 40 meters (130 ft). Return to the lodge for lunch.
- In the afternoon, we’ll take a tour around the lodge. This tour allows guests to experience Juma, built completely upon stilts, from a unique perspective: underneath. This fascinating approach provides insight regarding the construction of Juma and the role of sustainability within the lodge.
- After dinner, we will embark upon a jungle night walk, the time of day in which animals make the most sounds and the light of the forest is minimal, thus making the experience unique.

JUNGLE LODGE / DEPARTURE
- Breakfast included at lodge restaurant, followed by departure. On the way back to Manaus, we will stop at the Pirarucu Floating Dock to see the giant Pirarucu fish (also known as Arapaima), reaching 3 meters high (9.8 ft) and 200 kg (440 lbs)! From the Floating Dock you can feed the fish and observe their impressive strength.
- From there you will return to Manaus, arriving at the airport around noon.
Dates
